Board approves one‑year Title I behavioral interventionist for Title I schools

The board approved hiring a behavioral interventionist funded by Title I grant funds to place a full‑time specialist in Title I schools for the upcoming year. Director of Schools said the district has funds in the Title I grant to support the position and principals have reported the role makes a difference in school supports.
"So this is title 1, grant funds that we will use. Doctor Cawthorn said we have enough money in the total grant in order to provide the 6th 1, which will give a full time to each of our title schools," the Director of Schools explained. A board member confirmed the position is funded for one year and the Director said the district would hope to continue it in future years if funds allow.
The motion to approve the hire was moved, seconded and adopted unanimously, 5‑0.
