Elementary WazEd STEM kits bring AR/VR and robotics into classrooms

Shannon Locking, the district's elementary/primary computer teacher, described classroom use of WazEd STEM kits for second‑grade AR/VR and fifth‑grade robotics. "It's a hands on STEM curriculum for elementary learners... We started it in 2nd and 5th grade to try it out," she said, describing activities that ranged from Quiver AR coloring pages to students assembling small robots and programming them to navigate taped mazes.
Locking told the board the program emphasizes problem solving, creativity, collaboration and computational thinking and noted it supports diverse learners: "This program is an investment in our students' futures. We are not teaching devices. We are teaching thinking." Board members and staff praised the demonstration and discussed expanding club and cross‑grade mentoring opportunities so younger students can work with older peers.
