The Eden Central School District Board of Education approved capital project change orders related to the Eden Elementary roof replacement, including $223,365 for additional replacement of wet insulation.
"This is all of this work... is for the Eden Elementary roof," the superintendent said while noting the larger wet-insulation bill and that the district is working with its insurance carrier to determine coverage. The board voted to approve the change orders by voice vote after a second.
The motion included smaller line items such as curb access panels ($4,078) and metal coping replacement ($2,492). The superintendent said that even if the insurance carrier does not cover the additional work, funds are available from the voter-approved capital project to complete the necessary repairs.
The board also discussed increased oversight on change orders and a revised corrective action plan in response to an Office of the State Comptroller audit; the corrective action plan was approved later in the meeting and is to be resubmitted to the comptroller's office.
