Eden athletics honored as scholar‑athlete program; senior Brady Waring recounts being a Raider

He told the board the district earned a School Athletic School of Distinction award for having every varsity team qualify as a scholar-athlete team.
"We have 374 student athletes for our fall, which is about 63% of our student body participating in sports as well," Mr. Owanko said. He also noted the girls lacrosse team won the Class D Section 6 championship.
Senior athlete Brady Waring told the board being a Raider means more than playing: "To me, being an athlete here at Eden means more than just playing a sport. It's about representing my school with pride and giving my best effort on the field, in the gym, in the hallways, and most importantly, in the classroom." He recalled returning to Eden and the sense of community and balance between athletics and schoolwork.
Board members congratulated the athletic department and asked that the award plaque be placed in a trophy case.
