Boys and Girls Club asks Eden board for help to avoid local closure

Karen Tempske, a board member with the Boys and Girls Club of Eden Lakeshore, addressed the board during public comment to explain that the local club is struggling financially and at risk of closure. She said the local chapter operates independently of national funding streams and relies on foundations, corporate grants and individual gifts. "At this time, we are facing possible closure and would let down a lot of families in the Eden School District," Tempske said.
Tempske requested several low- or no-cost supports from the district to increase outreach: adding a link to the club's website under the district's community links, permission to distribute information through backpack mail, guidelines for having an information table at school events such as STEAM and math nights, and consideration for facility use (gymnasium or cafeteria) for larger programming. She emphasized the club's mission to offer safe, positive programming and asked the board to help spread awareness to keep the Eden club operating.
