The Planning Commission approved a land‑development application submitted by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Harrisburg to consolidate six vacant parcels and construct four attached rowhomes on Jefferson Street. Zane Geist of Integrated Consulting represented the applicant and said the organization would seek affordable‑housing certification per city requirements.
Staff recommended the project be certified as affordable prior to recording the consolidation and urged design elements such as full‑width sidewalks, ADA‑accessible entry options (including zero‑step entries where feasible), fenced rear yards and front porches to match the block. Habitat’s representative said the team would explore zero‑step entries in the rear and agreed to the conditions. Commissioners praised the four‑bedroom units as an important contribution to the housing inventory and approved the project with the staff‑recommended and minor added conditions.
The approval will move forward to recording and building‑permit stages after the applicant provides the affordable‑housing certificate and completes final engineering.
