The Heritage Pines Community Development District voted Oct. 15 to switch pond-algae services to Premier Lakes, Inc., approving a $19,200 proposal that District Manager Chuck Adams said saves about $3,200 per year compared with the SOLitude contract.
Adams reviewed the Premier Lakes scope and said that if approved he would initiate SOLitude's 30-day termination so Premier Lakes could begin service on Dec. 1, 2024. Resident Susan Napolitano asked what chemical SOLitude sprays; Adams said a "copper-based product is used to target algae" and added that the odor is from the degasification of algae and typically lasts a couple of days.
On a motion by Michael Walsh, seconded by Carol Vaughan, the board approved the Premier Lakes, Inc. proposal for pond algae treatment, in the amount of $19,200, with all supervisors voting in favor. Adams said he would contact SOLitude about performance and begin contractual termination steps.
