Abernathy ISD reports: college fair turnout, athletics advances, cybersecurity training

High School Principal Tate Albright said the College, Career and Military Fair on Oct. 7 was well attended and that the campus's cell phone policy has been effective; Middle School leadership reported unit assessments, intervention planning, NJHS induction and a STUCO sock drive; Elementary Principal Joanna Fullingim noted Region 17 visits and training as well as upcoming Antelope Way Assembly and the start of formal teacher observations and UIL practice.
Athletic Director Justin Wiley reported that junior high and high school cross country meets yielded multiple district champions and medalists with the varsity girls team and two varsity boys advancing to the regional meet; volleyball is in district play and HS girls basketball went undefeated at the ACH Showcase. IT Director Victoria Yates reported October cybersecurity trainings for grades 5'12 and attendance at an AI Summit. Business Manager Wendy Woerner presented budget progress, a first-quarter investment report, food service and tax reports. Superintendent Aaron Waldrip provided enrollment figures and a district vulnerability assessment review.
