The Butler County Commission voted 5-0 to approve PL 26-20, a mortgage lot split and Agricultural Preservation Overlay (APO) for property west of SW Haverhill Rd. on the south side of SW 80th St., near Augusta.
Community Development Director Toby Stewart told commissioners that landowner Jeremiah Pittman owns roughly 86 acres zoned AG-40 and proposed splitting about five acres for a new home while placing approximately 40 acres into an APO; the new home would likely use a well and a private wastewater system and receive electricity from Evergy. State statute requires notification of surrounding property owners within 1,000 feet. Commissioner Kelly Herzet moved to approve the agreement, Commissioner Jeff Masterson seconded, and the motion carried 5-0.
