The Alvarado ISD Board of Trustees on Oct. 28 accepted the administration's rankings for bids on the AHS competition gym and delegated authority to the superintendent or the superintendent's designee to negotiate a contract with the top-ranked firm and, if negotiations fail, to pursue the next-ranked firm. Trustee Perry Burnett moved the motion, and Trustee Hector Velazquez seconded; the measure passed with all members voting "aye."
The board's action allows district leadership to pursue negotiations without returning for a separate approval step if talks with the top-ranked firm conclude successfully. The motion's language directed administration to terminate negotiations with the top-ranked firm only if negotiations were unsuccessful and then to negotiate with the next-ranked firm, with execution of contracts contingent on successful negotiations. No dollar amounts or firms were named in the minutes. The action was recorded as passed unanimously by the six trustees present.
