Board approves new special education coordinator, moves on several personnel items

The Mesquite ISD board approved several personnel actions during its Dec. 1 meeting. Trustees voted to approve an administrative term contract for the district’s special education coordinator; chief communications officer Sabrina Smith introduced Dr. Veronica Tristan after the vote and summarized her 17 years of experience in special education.
Sabrina Smith introduced Tristan: "It's my pleasure to introduce to you, your new special education coordinator, doctor Veronica Tristan," and listed prior roles at Sam Houston State University and Region 10. The board also moved to propose termination of Chad Barry's term contract for good cause; the motion carried. Trustees approved outside personnel services for Horace Llewellyn and later voted to table consideration of Serone Lacey's outside personnel services until the next meeting.
Motions were made and passed by voice vote for each action; the board noted introductions of new hires would follow administrative procedures.
