Mesquite ISD reports CTE growth: 11,939 students served and 4,107 industry certifications

Mr. Elsasser presented the district’s CTE effectiveness report, saying CTE served 11,939 students last year and documented a 34% increase in industry-based certifications (4,107). He highlighted partnerships with more than 230 local employers, expanded dual-credit and practicum opportunities and robust CTSO participation that led to state and national competitions.
"We provide strategic tools and empower students with valuable skills..." Elsasser said, and walked trustees through completer-plus-IBC accountability metrics; he reported that Mesquite High School had roughly 18% of students recorded as completer+IBC for the class cited. Trustees asked about staffing for specialized programs (for example fire and computer science) and cross-campus models to maintain program quality; Elsasser described cross-entity classes and recruitment challenges for highly specialized instructors.
