Local commenter accuses water authority of "self-dealing," urges standalone system for school

At the public comment portion of the July 23 meeting, resident Ken Young accused the regional water authority of concealing contractor records and acting in bad faith in connection with a pipeline project that affected district facilities. "Newly obtained records tell a story of self dealing and malfeasance," he told the board and said he would share the documents with County Attorney Jennings.
Young urged the board to obtain a standalone system and an independent disinfecting permit for the affected elementary school, saying the district had been pressured into buying a pipeline and authorizing a treatment process unsuited for a school. The board asked administration to gather pumping records and engineering materials; Director Mayfield said he would reach out to engineers and the water authority to obtain files for review.
County Attorney Jennings later told the board that trustees met in executive session to discuss pending litigation and no motions were taken in private. "There was a good discussion with legal counsel and motions are necessary tonight from this body in open session," Jennings said after the executive session. Board members asked for a follow-up briefing from the county attorney on the newly provided documents at a future meeting.
