Leadership Empowerment Team says Mesquite Promise work places district beyond 90th percentile for belonging

Doctor Gulley described the Leadership Empowerment Team’s recent work and outcomes during the board meeting, framing the effort around the district’s "Mesquite Promise" to improve dignity and belonging.
Gulley said Panorama National School data place Mesquite ISD beyond the 90th percentile for belonging compared with a national dataset of more than 2 million students. He noted more than 900 students currently participate in Emerging Leaders programming, a 70% retention rate in that program this year, two student grants funded for campus programming and a reported 17,000 student-service volunteer hours submitted to the city.
Gulley tied those metrics to efforts such as Amazing Shake, junior emerging leaders and Project Lead programming aimed at building a pipeline of future leaders within the district. "We are considered an elite school district, outperforming the vast majority of our data set," he said.
