Ely school board authorizes engineering review, seeks contractor quotes for arena repairs

The School Board of Independent School District No. 696 (Ely Public School District) on Sept. 17 unanimously authorized Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. to begin an engineering review, development and design for structural repairs to the district arena and accepted Amendment No. 1 to the professional services agreement with the firm. Director Omerza moved the action and Director Colarich seconded; the motion "to authorize Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. to proceed with an engineering review, development and design for the arena structural repair and accept Amendment No.1 to the Agreement for Professional Services between ISD No. 696 and Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc." was recorded in the minutes and carried 5-0.
Board members also voted to seek contractor quotes for the work under Minnesota procurement rules. Director Omerza moved and Director Colarich seconded a separate motion "to approve procuring quotes for the structural repair of the arena as per MN State Statute 471.345 Subd. 4 and Subd 4a," which also passed unanimously (Vote: 5-0). The meeting minutes record that Superintendent/EC-12 Principal Anne Oelke and Transportation and Facilities Director Tim Leeson were present for the discussion. The special meeting was called to order by Clerk Sjoberg and adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
