Health staff urge vaccine compliance for incoming students, set Oct. 8 flu drive-through

Chelsea Parnell presented the board's immunization update and reminded the public that vaccines are required for students entering kindergarten, seventh grade and 12th grade. She provided counts from last August through the present for school-aged immunizations: DTaP+Polio (54), DTaP (14), Polio (53), MMR (82), Varicella (103), MenQuadV (353) and tetanus (137).
Parnell said staff are already scheduling flu clinics for businesses, schools and nursing homes; she told the board that seasonal flu vaccine supply is expected at the end of August and confirmed the annual drive-through flu clinic is set for Oct. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Health and Human Services Building.
"As a reminder for immunizations for schools starting back, kindergarten, veil 7th grader, and 12th graders are due required vaccines," Parnell told the board, adding that the department is outreach-focused as school starts.
