"The task is for removal and disposal of several dead or dying bushes around the perimeter and wetland NWRA‑33, specifically including the two dead oak and maple tree branches, southwest portion of the area, adjacent to water lilies," Chair Kathleen Lonergan read. The scope also described hand‑pulling weeds, cutting at water level to knock back vines and selective herbicide use where necessary.
The scope emphasizes selective, hand‑work approaches in the transitional buffer where mowing equipment cannot safely operate. The Board noted the work would "knock [vines] back meaningfully" but would not eliminate canopy vines, and the district engineer (not present) coordinated with Environmental Solutions on allowable removals.
District Manager Chuck Adams explained that Environmental Solutions pproaches are more selective than forestry mulching and are intended to provide a more aesthetic result for areas directly adjacent to homeowners' backyards. The Board did not take separate formal action to change the scope but confirmed the amended ES proposal will proceed and that the engineer will review specific tree removals near private property.
