Mesquite ISD introduces new principals and summer administrative hires

The Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees introduced a group of summer hires and new principals during its July 14 meeting, highlighting district efforts to fill leadership roles ahead of the school year.
Dr. Janine Fields introduced Doctor Melissa Torrance as principal of AC New Middle School, saying Torrance brings "more than 15 years in public education" and recently defended her dissertation. Torrance told trustees she is "incredibly excited to be a part of this district" and said she will begin Wednesday.
Fields also introduced Deidre Lester as the new principal at Smith Elementary School; Lester described her 15-plus years in education and thanked district staff, families and mentors. Chief Communications Officer Sabrina Smith then presented a list of summer hires: Dennis Sadler (coordinator for administrative services), Amanda Connor (CTE coordinator), Lindsey Martin (coordinator for deaf education) and several new assistant principals for elementary and secondary campuses. The administration said those new employees were already working and thanked the board for approving summer hires under superintendent hiring authority.
Board members thanked staff for filling positions quickly so campuses are ready for fall.
