Ballinger ISD trustees voted on June 15 to add a $2,000 stipend to the salaries of teachers who hold a State Board of Education special education certificate and serve in that role beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
"to approve the addition of a $2000 stipend to the salaries of teachers holding a SBOE special education certificate and serving in that role beginning in the 2026-27 school year as presented," Mr. Battle moved; the motion carried with four members recorded in favor (Manuel Galvan, Cheryl Buchanan, Jason Strube and Jason Battle) and one recusal (Scott King). Two trustees were absent. The minutes record the vote and the recusal but do not include further discussion or the estimated fiscal cost of the stipend.
