Begay said the event’s social-media posts reached large audiences — the Facebook event page received more than 140,000 views and the department’s first Facebook Reel earned over 18,000 views — and that the event achieved these results using three-quarters of the event marketing budget.
Mayor Robert Noblin and councilors praised the Parks and Recreation staff, the Streets Department, the Belen Fire and Police departments, and volunteers for safety coordination and logistics. Councilors said the city should track attendance more precisely next year using entry counters or cell-phone data and planned to continue expanding public events.
