The City of Northfield Council unanimously approved a consent agenda of resolutions on June 23 that included liquor license renewals, Cultural Committee appointments, recognition for volunteer firefighters and approvals for facility use requests.
"All matters listed under the consent agenda are considered to be routine in nature, and having been reviewed by Council, will be enacted by one motion," Council President Bucci said as she read the consent agenda statement. The set of resolutions adopted (171‑2026 through 181‑2026, with two small amendments) also included authorization to access the Employment Practices Liability consultation service and an agreement with the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
Council moved to amend Resolution 179‑2026 to remove the alternate date language and to add a date exception to Resolution 180‑2026; both amendments were moved by Councilman Dewees and approved without recorded dissents. On a motion by Councilwoman Kern and second by Councilwoman Carfagno, the full consent package was adopted by roll call: Carfagno, Dewees, Kern, Notaro, Polistina and Bucci voted yes; Councilman Smith was absent.
The consent agenda also included a resolution (181‑2026) authorizing an executive session for contract negotiations concerning crossing guards and related attorney‑client privileged matters. The deputy clerk noted that minutes of the executive session will be kept and released when permitted by law.
