Mayor Erland V. L. Chau read a proclamation at the start of the May 19 work session declaring August as "Veterans Month" in Northfield, citing the city's World War II Monument, Purple Heart Way and Northfield Veterans Park as local reminders of service.
"NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Erland V. L. Chau, Mayor of the City of Northfield, County of Atlantic, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim August as Veterans Month in the City of Northfield," the proclamation reads. Ed Dixon came forward to accept the proclamation and thanked the mayor and council for the dedication.
Mayor Chau also reminded attendees of the Memorial Day ceremony scheduled for May 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Northfield Veterans Park; no council action was required beyond the ceremonial proclamation.
