Council considers no-parking ordinance for Zion Road after resident complaints

Council and staff discussed a potential ordinance to restrict parking on Zion Road between Tilton and the bike path after a resident complaint prompted review. Engineer Nassar told council the city must first introduce an ordinance, send it to the County for concurrence, and noted the roadway narrows near Fuae; Council President Bucci and Councilman Dewees asked for additional analysis before any vote.

Mayor Chau described neighborhood concerns about darkness and parking encroaching on private property and asked colleagues to observe the street at night. "It was not very well lit, it was very dark," Mayor Chau said, noting reports that cars had parked on resident property. Lt. DiMarco offered to pull calls-for-service and to check lighting; Engineer Nassar offered to prepare an overhead map to show the potential impact of any parking restriction.
