President Ashley Mutschink explained the nomination process for the Bastrop Central Appraisal District (BCAD), saying the district must submit written nominations to the chief appraiser by mid-October so the appraisal district can prepare ballots before Oct. 30. He identified five people who had expressed interest in appointment: incumbents David Redd, David Glass, Jeannie Ralph and Justin Bezner, and a prospective candidate, Sandra Archer. Trustee Priscilla Ruiz moved and Trustee Matthew Mix seconded approval of the nomination resolution; the motion carried unanimously.
Mutschink emphasized the procedural deadlines and that the appraisal district cannot prepare the ballot without timely nominations from the taxing entities. The board's action was strictly procedural: it authorized submission of the district's nominees for the BCAD board; any final appointment rests with the appraisal district's process and voting entities.
