Board authorizes superintendent to file complaint with State Board of Educator Certification after teacher abandons contract

Human Resources Director Diana Greene told trustees Aug. 20 that a probationary teacher at Cedar Creek Middle School (Katherine Vukovics) abandoned her contract for the 2024–25 school year. The Board voted to find no good cause for the resignation, declined to accept the resignation, and authorized the superintendent to file a complaint with the State Board for Educator Certification seeking sanctions for contract abandonment.
Trustee Chris M. Dillon moved and Trustee Priscilla Ruiz seconded the action; the motion carried unanimously. The authorization does not itself impose sanctions but permits the superintendent to pursue formal disciplinary action with SBEC per state educator-certification procedures.
