The Board unanimously approved revisions to Policy DEC (LOCAL)-X that remove the district's catastrophic leave provision. Stephanie Davis, Benefits & Wellness Coordinator, told the Board the change would produce financial savings and noted that a district sick-leave bank already exists for employees to contribute to and withdraw from in cases of catastrophic illness.
Trustee Matthew Mix moved and Trustee Priscilla Ruiz seconded the revision; the motion carried unanimously. District staff said the sick-leave bank remains available for eligible employees and that the policy change was intended to streamline leave benefits and reduce costs.
