Lenore Brakefield, representing Woodward Pires & Lombardo, P.A., told the board that the Village of Estero's position is that "it does not need to maintain the road west of U.S. 41 to the Clubhouse." District Counsel Tony Pires said he disagrees and will send a letter to the Village and County counsel asserting that the Village owns the road; Mr. Willis noted he previously emailed Johnson Engineering documents to Mr. Pires on Nov. 20, 2024.
The board did not take further action at the meeting but directed counsel to pursue written confirmation and take next steps as appropriate. Any change in maintenance responsibility would require written confirmation and may affect future maintenance planning and budget assumptions for the district.
