Residents urge action on Lake 8 flooding; board to consider project in next budget

Rich Batterberry, representing Oak Run residents, told the board that rainwater pooling from the monument to about halfway down Lake 8 "takes a long time ... to recede," that water has been entering foundations, and that at least one homeowner incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water intrusion. Mr. Krebs reviewed work done at Seaside and said similar regrading could address the Lake 8 issues; Supervisor Bob Schultz said the board would consider the work as part of the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs will obtain cost estimates for possible interventions. The matter was entered for budget consideration rather than immediate action; staff will present cost and scope options for board review during the upcoming budget cycle.
