BISD learning report flags lawsuit blocking 2024 A-F ratings; district previews ACT/SAT/TSIA results

Natalie Jones, Chief Academic Officer for the Bellville Independent School District, reviewed the district—professional learning offerings from the Aug. 6 districtwide day and said she will begin publishing a monthly Teaching & Learning newsletter for staff. Jones also described a Brahmas Learn instructional workshop series planned for 2024—6 (the 2024—25 school year) and summarized district ACT, SAT and TSIA score reporting as part of the learning report.
Jones told the board that a lawsuit filed in Texas challenges the reliability and validity of the STAAR assessment and the TEA A-F accountability system, and that a court order is currently blocking release of 2024 A-F ratings. The board heard this update as part of the agenda-review meeting and was informed the district will monitor developments; the A-F rating release remains subject to the court's process.
