Bastrop ISD honors Region 13 teacher, College Board recipients; student speaks on honesty

At the start of the Sept. 17 meeting, trustees recognized Elizabeth Eagan as the Region 13 Elementary Teacher of the Year. Mark Medley, Associate Director of Special Programs & Services, introduced and congratulated Eagan. Cheryl Pinkston introduced College Board National Recognition recipients and explained the program's purpose to recognize underrepresented students who excel on College Board assessments.
The board also heard a student speaker: Emma Waley, a sixth grader at Bastrop Intermediate School, presented a short talk on the character trait of honesty as part of the district's character-education series. There were no public speakers signed up during the open forum segment.
