The Board reconvened into open session at 6:23 p.m., and a motion to deny the grievant’s requested relief in its entirety was moved by Place 2 member Kellye Seekatz and seconded by Place 1 member Carol A. Armstrong; President Chris M. Dillon then called for a show-of-hands vote that carried unanimously.
The Board had met in closed session at 5:31 p.m. under Texas Government Code Section 551.071 (attorney consultation) and Section 551.0821 (student information) to consult with counsel and deliberate the student matter. The minutes state the denial reflects the Board’s decision “as discussed in Closed Session,” and that the grievant will receive written confirmation of the decision. The meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
The Board’s action was recorded in the meeting minutes as “MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.” No public comments were made during the Open Forum earlier in the evening. The district’s published notice shows the special meeting began at 5:30 p.m. at the Bastrop ISD Service Center, 906 Farm Street, Bastrop, Texas.
