During the Aug. 6 session the board considered a procedural motion from a member to require all expert witnesses to provide written reports 10 days before appearing. The motion was seconded and discussed, but it failed on a recorded voice‑vote with some members opposed or abstaining.
Shortly after the substantive evidence session, the applicant requested a continuance to refine testimony and submit plan revisions. The board voted to continue the Islamic Circle of North America application (ZB2500024) to Oct. 1, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at 475 Demott Lane and granted an extension of the decision deadline through Oct. 31, 2026. The motion passed with a majority of members voting yes on the continuance.
