Mayor highlights drones, radar replacements and e-bike safety in council report

During his report Mayor Chau said members of the police department attended a seminar on drones and that the drones are heat sensitive and could help in searches and event scouting. He also urged replacing the city's radar detection machines, noting two have already been replaced and remaining units were over 20 years old.
Councilman Notaro said the bike path and e-bike speeds were a strong concern and recommended parent-focused education and outreach—suggesting a Facebook program to connect with parents of younger children. Mayor Chau said the problem is widespread across municipalities and that the police department will address issues through patrol; he also noted recent school programs and encouraged helmet use and incentives to improve safety.
The council thanked Chief Pollak and the department for working on targeted parking and speeding enforcement in response to resident complaints.
