Salt Lake City CRA staff told the board the FY27 budget shows a housing investment of about $9,900,000 and walked through how those funds would be used.
"The biggest being just over 4,100,000 to go out into a wealth building housing opportunities," Danny said while explaining that the proposed housing allocations also include "just over 3,300,000 in funds" through the regular HDLP competitive NOFA and about $1,100,000 set aside for housing property disposition to accelerate developer negotiations.
Staff emphasized some housing dollars are constrained by prior interlocal agreements with the school district and county and must be tracked for specific uses. Board members pressed staff for clarity on whether there are new, future allocations for housing initiatives; staff referenced the housing funds breakdown in the slides and discussed the carryover from the transition holding account and inland port contributions as principal revenue sources for housing funds.
The presentation also noted programmatic flexibility: a portion of the housing funds may be used administratively or to seed disposition negotiations so affordable housing requirements can be embedded in future property sales.
