The Brooks County ISD Board of Trustees voted May 21 to increase the district's employer contribution for employee health insurance to cover a $51.31 monthly rate increase. Finance Director Alissa Sanchez reported that equates to $615.72 annually per employee; with 168 employees the district estimated an annual cost increase of $103,440.96. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
Later in the meeting the board approved two general-fund budget amendments to fund capital purchases and maintenance: one amendment to purchase two air-cooled chillers and to repair the high school horseshoe pavement; a second amendment to cover a $66,324 contract for full maintenance on 25 first-floor fan coil A/C units at the high school. The board recorded each action as approved 7–0.
