Student leader Sadie Royer told trustees theater improves critical thinking and engagement, citing research that drama coursework correlated with higher SAT scores among students who participate. The board voted to approve the proclamation; the motion carried.
Trustees framed the proclamation as both recognition and advocacy: the board encouraged students, staff and the community to support fine-arts programming and said the district will continue to highlight arts opportunities in school planning and outreach. The proclamation follows recent student accomplishments and local arts partnerships celebrated during the meeting.
