Board authorizes superintendent to negotiate student development center contract under Bond 2024

Trustees approved a motion authorizing the superintendent to negotiate an agreement with the top-ranked proposer for the Student Development Center (athletic practice facility), Project #24.19C under Bond 2024. The motion also authorized the superintendent, if unable to reach agreement with the top-ranked proposer, to terminate negotiations and negotiate with the next-ranked proposer and continue that process until an acceptable agreement is reached. Trustee Judy Murdoch moved the motion and Trustee Rey Longoria seconded; Board President Dawn Cavanaugh announced the vote passed 7-0.
Following the authorization, Manuel Tamez provided a separate update on the 2024 bond projects. The authorization gives the superintendent delegated authority to complete negotiations within the parameters set by the board at the Jan. 27 meeting.
