Borger ISD board adopts 2024–25 tax rate, approves consent agenda and budget items

The Borger Independent School District Board of Trustees adopted a resolution setting the tax rate for fiscal year 2024–2025 and approved several administrative items during its Nov. 14 meeting. President Payton Lumpkin opened the meeting and verified a quorum, noting “Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present, that the meeting has been duly called, and that notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551.”
Trustees voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes from prior meetings, payroll, disbursements and donations. The board also approved canvassing of the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election and formally adopted the district’s tax rate for 2024–25. The consent agenda motion was made by Mrs. Gabriela Small and seconded by Mrs. Cyndee Hickman; other motions on the tax rate were moved by Mr. Eric Schneck and Mr. Keegan Neill and each passed with no dissent.
The actions taken at the meeting were procedural and financial in nature; the minutes do not include the adopted tax-rate figure or detailed line-item budget numbers. Trustees in attendance numbered seven, and all recorded motions passed unanimously. The district did not record any public comment during the meeting.
