Brenham ISD honors students and programs: Winter Guard, band, JROTC, athletics and volunteer tutoring

The Brenham ISD board used its meeting to celebrate student and program achievements across the district. The board recognized MCJROTC students who returned as dual national champions; MCJROTC captain Jeffrey Base thanked the superintendent and staff for support and described the units top national placements.
Band director Joshua Tempsi presented the 2026 Winter Guard's rise to a higher competitive class and a state-class win after a promotion earlier in the season. Coaches and staff also recognized boys and girls golf qualifiers and regional and state track qualifiers; Demetra Gillum highlighted Haikira Williamss district championships and regional-final times.
The board also celebrated volunteer-led literacy efforts: the Cubs to Read tutoring program (supported by Blinn College and community volunteers) earned thanks from the elementary curriculum coordinator, who credited volunteers and campus instructional coaches with improved student confidence and reading gains. Board members and the superintendent praised the districts volunteers and staff for the school-year achievements.
