Broaddus ISD's Board of Trustees approved an extension of the superintendent's contract on Jan. 9, 2025, voting unanimously to create a three-year term beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2028. The board also approved compensation and benefit changes included in the motion: a $500 monthly vehicle allowance, district coverage of the superintendent's health insurance and deductible, and an annual $5,000 retirement contribution at the superintendent's discretion.
Trustee Micha Miller made the motion, which Trustee Doug Sowell seconded; the motion passed 7–0. The motion as presented to the board said, verbatim, “I make a motion to extend the Superintendent's contract one year for a term of three (3) years beginning July 1, 2025 and ending on June 30, 2028. In addition to receive $500 monthly vehicle allowance, the district will cover health insurance and the deductible for the superintendent each year, and $5,000 annually towards retirement at the superintendent's discretion.” The vote was recorded as Travis Elizalde: Yea; Jathan Green: Yea; Pete Mancill: Yea; Micha Miller: Yea; Doug Sowell: Yea; Michael Sowell: Yea; Brock Weatherford: Yea.
