Bryan ISD trustees adopt 2026-27 budget, approve year-end amendments

Board Vice President Felicia Benford presided as the Bryan Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the district's recommended budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year during its June 15 meeting.
Chief Financial Officer Norma Friddle presented the recommended 2026-27 budget covering the General Fund, Debt Service Fund and Food Service Fund and answered board questions before the matter was moved for a vote. "I move approval of the recommended budget for the year ending June 30, 2027, for the General Fund, Debt Service Fund, and Food Service Fund as presented," Trustee Julie Harlin moved; the motion passed 5-0 with trustees Joel Bryan and Tim Pavlas absent.
Earlier on the agenda the board approved a separate year-end budget amendment for the General Fund and Food Service Fund for the year ended June 30, 2026 after Friddle outlined adjustments needed to close the fiscal year. Trustee David Stasny moved the amendment; the motion passed 5-0 with two absences.
The board also approved a resolution committing fund balance for the year ended June 30, 2026 as presented by Friddle. All votes recorded for budget items were unanimous among members present. No public comments were offered during the budget's public hearing, which began at 6:03 p.m. and ended at 6:08 p.m.
The approved budget and amendments will guide district spending and fund balance commitments through the 2026-27 school year.
