Trustees review failed Proposition C athletic bond and options to revisit measure
Summary
District staff reviewed the $31.5 million Proposition C athletic facilities bond that voters rejected; CFO Norberto Rivas said the measure "would not have resulted in an additional tax rate increase because the full one-cent tax impact was already allocated to Proposition A," and trustees discussed communication and timing for any possible resubmission.

Chief Operations Officer Dr. Michael Hill provided an overview of the projects that had been included in Proposition C, a $31.5 million bond measure for athletic facility improvements that did not pass in the May 2026 election. Hill detailed candidate projects such as replacing aging synthetic turf, resurfacing junior high tracks, upgrading baseball and softball fields, replacing weight room equipment and scoreboards, and adding athletic storage facilities.
Chief Financial Officer Norberto Rivas clarified the tax-rate impact, telling trustees that Proposition C "would not have resulted in an additional tax rate increase because the full one-cent tax impact was already allocated to Proposition A." Trustees were asked to provide feedback about whether Proposition C should be brought back to voters in the same or an expanded form and emphasized the need for clear community communication about funding impacts and timelines.
