Arlington ISD board approves four administrative appointments, including three principals

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously June 4 to ratify administrative appointments recommended in closed session, promoting three principals and naming a new executive director. "Motion by Brooklyn Richardson, seconded by Larry Mike, to approve the administrative appointments as recommended in closed session," the minutes record, followed by a recorded vote of 7–0.
Superintendent Smith introduced the appointees: Jannie Nelson as principal at Hill Elementary (previously assistant principal at Shackelford Junior High); Dr. Kadoria Burgess as principal at Little Elementary (previously principal in Fort Worth ISD); Ricki Andrews as principal at Miller Elementary (previously assistant principal at Wood Elementary); and Dr. Matthew Varnell as Executive Director of Innovative Programs (previously principal at Gunn Junior High and Fine Arts and Dual Language Academy). The appointments took effect following board approval. The motion and roll-call vote are recorded in the meeting minutes.
