Board approves IN2 Architecture educational specifications for new campuses

The Canutillo ISD Board of Trustees voted Oct. 22, 2024 to approve administration’s recommendation of the 2024 Educational Specifications for elementary, middle and Early College High Schools as developed by IN2 Architecture and to select a qualitative method of compliance. Mrs. Irene Nigaglioni presented the educational specification and answered trustees' questions about safety and construction.
Trustee Rodriguez invited student advisors to provide feedback on items students would like at the new campuses. Trustee Mendoza moved to approve the administration’s recommendation and Mrs. Zuniga seconded; the motion passed by the trustees in attendance. The approval authorizes staff to proceed to the next planning steps under the adopted specifications and the chosen compliance approach.
Board discussion focused on safety features and how specifications would translate into construction budgeting and oversight; no construction contract award was made at the meeting.
