Mr. Ernesto Ortiz presented the two-step process for awarding CMAR services related to the 2024 bond referendum projects and recommended the district proceed with contract negotiations with six firms: AO General Contractors Inc., Banes General Contractors Inc., Buford Thompson Company LTD, Dantex General Contractors Inc., Jordan Foster Construction LLC, and LDCM Solutions LLC. The recommended negotiations are contingent on review by the district—s legal counsel and final board approval at a future meeting.
Trustees asked whether the firms are local and whether the district had complete reference checks; Trustee Lucy Borrego noted incomplete references in some submissions. Trustee Blanca Trout expressed concern about potential changes in project value. Mr. Ortiz responded that the companies "are all within budget including land, permits, and possible contingency." The board voted to authorize administration to proceed with negotiations and to return finalized contracts for approval.
