York reports strong AP results and submits ESEA grant application

A district staff member told the committee that the district submitted its Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) application on Aug. 1 and provided preliminary Title allocations: about $76,000 for Title I, roughly $44,000 for Title II, and about $10,000 for Title IV. The staff member said the state review of project plans usually takes about two weeks.
The same presenter reviewed Advanced Placement (AP) results from the spring: 110 York High School students took 210 AP exams across roughly 20 subjects, producing a district average score of 3.49 and an 81.4% pass rate (scores of 3 or higher). The presenter noted subject-level highlights (for example, 100% pass rates in eight AP courses and a 4.0 average in AP English Language for a 26-student cohort).
Committee members applauded the students and teachers during the report and no formal votes were required for the academic updates.
