"Your water charges include a service fee and a usage charge," the presenter said, adding that the service fee is based on water meter size while the usage charge depends on how much water the customer uses. The presenter noted the city uses a tiered rate structure "meaning the more water you use, the more you pay per unit of water" to encourage conservation.
Staff also said those charges support the infrastructure that delivers drinking water to homes, including treatment plants and underground pipes.
