Superintendent reports enrollment decline to 2,288; Eagle Vision committee meets again Jan. 15

Superintendent Dr. Brian Nichols told the Canton ISD Board on Dec. 19 that district enrollment as of that date was 2,288 students, down from 2,350 at the same point last year, and that district attendance stood at 96.14%. "Enrollment as of December 19, 2024, was 2288. Last year's enrollment at this time was 2350," the minutes record.
Dr. Nichols also said the Eagle Vision Advisory Committee met Dec. 4 to begin reviewing the district vision and will meet again on Jan. 15, 2025. He confirmed that Christmas break began Dec. 19, staff development is scheduled for Jan. 6, and students return on Jan. 7, 2025. The minutes do not include additional analysis of enrollment trends or staffing implications.
