Omak Park Board votes to send Comprehensive Park Plan to City Council with recommendation

The Omak Park Board voted unanimously Feb. 10 to send the city's draft Comprehensive Park Plan to Omak City Council with a recommendation for adoption. City Planner Kurt Danison presented an overview of the plan and the process used to produce the draft.
During the public-comment period Diane Probach, identified as a member of Rotary, asked how the plan responds to the completed Park Survey and how the Plan Goals align with the Action Plan in the document. Danison told the board the goals and objectives are intended as guidelines rather than fixed mandates, explaining they are not "set in stone" but provide direction for parks and administration. After discussion PC Nikki Watts moved to forward the plan to City Council with a recommendation for adoption; PC Kelly Cariker seconded and there were no opposing votes.
The board recorded the forward recommendation as its formal action; the item will next appear on the City Council agenda for consideration. The Park Board also noted that some community organizations have offered to help with future projects related to the Plan.
