The Omak Public Library Board reviewed ongoing negotiations with North Central Washington (NCW) Libraries over the Library Services Contract and a separate Building and Maintenance Contract. Minutes state the Service Contract was renewed through March 31, 2026 and later recorded that a Service Contract agreement now extends through June 2026. Board members were told the City currently contracts library services for about $118,000 a year rather than collecting library-specific tax dollars from Omak residents.
The board discussed annexation into the NCW Libraries district as a funding alternative—if Omak were annexed, the minutes say, library tax dollars would flow directly to NCW Libraries and the City would no longer pay the regional library. The City is consulting the City Attorney and negotiations with the regional library remain unresolved.
